Container transit growth in the Kaliningrad region

     From January to November, on the Kaliningrad Railway, container traffic on domestic routes increased by 36.8% compared to the same period last year and reached almost 9.8 thousand TEU *.
     The transit traffic of containers for 11 months increased by 7.5% and amounted to 4.6 thousand TEUs, specified in the corporate communications department of the Kaliningrad Railway ..
     In all types of communications (including export-import destinations), from January to November, 471 thousand cargoes (76.9 thousand TEU) were transported in containers, which corresponds to the level of transportation last year (+1%)
       The greatest dynamics was observed in container shipments of timber cargo (+99.4%), chemicals and soda (+63.2%), animal feed (+10.5%), food products (+17.1%), industrial consumer goods consumption (three times more), machinery, machine tools, engines (+120%), groupage cargo (+25.2%), agricultural machinery (more than 11 times).

   * TEU (TEU) - a twenty-foot equivalent, a conventional unit of measurement of capacity, corresponds to the dimensions of a standard ISO (ISO) cargo container with a length of 20 feet (6.1 m).
