New shunting diesel locomotives arrived at the Kaliningrad railway

The locomotive fleet of the Kaliningrad directorate of traction was replenished with five new shunting diesel locomotives TEM18DM, designed to work on a track of the European standard 1435 mm.

     After a technical check and break-in, the locomotives will be involved in shunting at the Dzerzhinskaya Novaya and Novo-Zapadny Park stations in Chernyakhovsk, as well as at the border crossing points of the Mamonovo / Braniewo and Zheleznodorozhny / Scandava trains.

     TEM18D shunting diesel locomotives have been used for several years at the Kaliningrad Railroad training ground. The new diesel locomotives are characterized by high performance, an upgraded control system, electrics, dust suppression, which ensures resource savings and an improvement in the environmental performance of diesel locomotives. The driver’s cab is also equipped with a modern automatic climate system, a convenient control interface, which improves the working conditions of the locomotive crew.

     The re-equipment of the technical fleet of the highway is associated with an increase in the transportation of passengers and goods from / to the Kaliningrad region, as well as an increased volume of work on transshipment of transit container trains following the route China - Europe - China.

     Recall that over the previous two years, the Kaliningrad Railway also received new main diesel locomotives for passenger trains TEP70BS for the investment program of the holding, for high-speed trains Vityaz, as well as shunting locomotives TEM-TMX.
